Hi Friends! 

So I recently decided wanted to learn more about crystals, chakras, and what everyone was so hyped about. I would just like to start off by saying that I am absolutely not an expert and I am just starting my crystal journey. This post is to share with you my experience and my understanding.

I went to college in Flagstaff Arizona which was a super hippy, earthy, Chaco wearing community. Although the eating organic and wearing Chaco trend did reach me I really just thought “how the heck are rocks suppose to help me channel my higher self to find inner peace?”.

I started by looking through the catacombs of the internet to find out what this hippy-dippy crystal thing really is. The simplest way I can break it down is this. Our bodies have 7 key chakras starting from our head to our roots, and the alignment of these chakras is a key factor in our mood, inner peace, and our success. 

Starting from the top of your head:

Crown Chakra– Located at the crown of your head, this chakra is associated with our connection and understanding.

Third Eye Chakra– Located in the center of our forehead, this chakra is associated with our sense of intuition and imagination. 

Throat Chakra– Located in the throat region, is associated with communication and beings one’s true authentic self.

Heart Chakra– Located over our sternum, is associated with feelings such as love, hope, and compassion. 

Solar Plexus Chakra– Located just above our belly button, is associated with personal power, vitality, and self- esteem. 

Sacral Chakra– Located below our belly button, is associated with emotional control and feeling of intimacy. 

Root Chakra– Located directly at the bottom of our spine, is associated with our sense of survival, feeling of security, and grounding.

I have either lost you or caught your interest and if you are still reading then here is another thing that will blow your mind. All crystals have an effect on certain chakras!

After I learned about the different chakras and the crystals that have effects on them I made my way to the crystal store to start ‘alignin’.  I convinced my sister to join me and we went to BLACK MINERAL MARKT in Tempe, AZ.

I am not a geologist or crystal guru so I found myself thinking “what is this stone? what is this one? is this what I am looking at on Pinterest or just a painted rock?” ( insert rolling eye emoji). 

We had a really fun time and the best advice I have is to let yourself we drawn in by the energies of the crystals that catch your eye and learn about the stone later.  The crazy thing about this was going home and learning about the crystals we chose, and how they were exactly what we needed!
